About the Author: Mark D. Boyatt, US Army Special Forces Colonel Retired, was the Distinguished Honor Graduate of his Special Forces Officers Qualification class and earned the Green Beret. He served as the commander of three different Special Forces Operational Detachments "A" in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He commanded the first Special Forces Mobile Training Team to then North Yemen in 1979. From December 1984-May 1987 he served as the operations officer (S-3), 5th SFGA, then in the U.S. Army Special Operations Agency in the Pentagon until 1989. In 1989 he assumed command of the 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group forward deployed on Okinawa, Japan. From 1993-1994, he was the Chief of Staff of the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS). Subsequently, from 1994-1996, Boyatt was the commander, 3rd Special Forces Group and commanded the Army Special Operations Task Force during Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti 1994-1995. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, G-3, for the United States Army Special Operations Command from 1996-1998 and then as the deputy commander and assistant commandant USAJFKSWCS from April 1998 until his retirement in January 2000.

Church’s Chicken® Expands Education Initiative

Church’s Chicken® is hoping to make significant strides against that figure by raising money to help feed hundreds of thousands of children alongside No Kid Hungry® – a campaign of the national nonprofit Share Our Strength. From March 28th to April 24th, Church’s Chicken will donate $1 from every “Sweet Start” Meal to support the efforts of No Kid Hungry nationwide. With hunger being one of the key distractors to young people focusing during morning class, Church’s aligned with the No Kid Hungry initiative to help children enter their classrooms well nourished.

The South Shore Chamber of Commerce (www.southshorechamber.org) the region’s largest Chamber today will host a Political Leader Breakfast featuring Boston Mayor Marty Walsh on Wednesday, April 6th at The Lantana, 43 Scanlon Drive, Randolph.

The event will run from 7:44 to 9:15 a.m.  Chamber members and affiliates and the public are invited to attend and learn how Boston’s development will impact the South Shore’s regional development plan.  The Mayor will also address his first two years in office and his priorities for the remainder of this term.

Bluewire Audio Exhibits at LA's Running USA Industry Conference and Exhibition

Bluewire Audio LLC (www.bluewireaudio.com), a start-up company founded by Andy and Emily Proos that is working to develop a safer and less cumbersome way to listen to audio while running or engaged in other physical activity, recently exhibited their product for the first time at the Running USA Industry Conference and Exhibition, held last month in Los Angeles.

 

The Running USA Industry Conference and Exhibition marked the first time that Bluewire Audio has participated in a running expo, and allowed the company to showcase the prototype of their product, as well as receive feedback and connect with other race and marketing directors, event managers, photographers, and running enthusiasts.  The Bluewire Audio product is a set of small speakers that are mounted on the outside of a cap or visor, where they direct audio towards the wearer’s ear.  Without being too loud to disturb other people in the surrounding area, the speakers allow the wearer to listen to music or other audio without needing to fumble with earbuds or wires.  More importantly, they also preserve ambient sound, eliminating the safety concerns when conventional earbuds or headphones are used during outdoor activities.

 

The prototype was designed by Ideology Product Development, Inc., and created by Empire Prototype Development, both based in Attleboro, Mass.

 

Bluewire Audio plans to follow up this exhibition by participating in the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo, the expo leading up to the Boston Marathon, held at the Hynes Convention Center from April 15 to April 17, 2016.
